Job specification
Our client has taken a decision to target the rapidly developing civil nuclear power market. This represents a significant initiative and is intended to allow them to extend and develop their nuclear expertise into new markets for the Company. Their strategy is to exploit their nuclear capabilities to create a business focusing on new build manufacturing and services, in service reactor plant support and lifetime extension, and future concept development activities.
These positions are permanent positions based at Birchwood Park, Risley, Warrington.
Responsibilities
Reactor physics input to core design, manufacture and operation, including critically assessment and fuel inventory assessment.
Steady state thermal performance and fault condition assessment of the reactor.
Support to operational physics testing during reactor commissioning and operation.
Experience
Degree in Maths or Physics or equivalent.
Comprehensive knowledge of reactor physics, reactor design, operation and performance and the parameters affecting core performance, power and reactivity control.
Experience of reactor physics modelling utilising standard industry computer codes.
Working knowledge of UK nuclear regulatory requirements, including NII SAPs.
Knowledge of submarine and/or power station nuclear safety systems.
Good communication skills are essential as well as the ability to work as part of a team. Ability to work to process and procedure is mandatory, and PC literacy is crucial.
